Industrias Químicas del Ebro (IQE) has inaugurated its new precipitated silica plant at the Malpica industrial estate (Zaragoza), coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the company. The President of Aragón, Javier Lambán, and the Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment, Marta Gastón, participated in the inauguration and visited the new facilities in which the Aragonese industrial group has invested 27 million euros and that allow the company to enter the tire sector.
The plant, which works 24 hours a day, has generated 30 new jobs. After three years of work, this infrastructure will allow IQE to work with large companies in the sector and produce 20,000 tons of precipitated silica per year. In addition to the new production floor of 6,000 square meters, a new warehouse of 3,700 square meters has been built.
During the opening ceremony, Javier Lambán recalled the good indicators that reflect the evolution of the Aragonese economy and that allow “to propose ambitious goals and challenges”. “We have many reasons to believe in Aragon because we rely fundamentally on the Aragonese people”, said Lambán.
With the new infrastructure, Industrias Químicas del Ebro group, which has more than 180 employees, expands its product portfolio, which already includes sodium silicate, metasilicate, silicas and aluminum silicate, as well as products “à la carte” for various markets such as detergents, ceramics, construction or painting.
Research and diversification have marked the trajectory of this company, becoming a reference provider, both nationally and internationally, with a presence in more than 50 countries.
