Schmitz Cargobull Ibérica increases turnover by 20.4%

The German company, which employs 227 people in its Figueruelas (Zaragoza) factory, invested 1.2 million euro last year to equip itself with a new line for manufacturing of refrigerated semitrailers.

The turnover of Schmitz Cargobull Ibérica, at the close of its fiscal year 2017/2018 on March 31, was 123.2 million euro, which represents a growth of 20.4% with respect to to 102.3 of the previous year 2016/2017.

According to the company, the good turnover figures go in line with the investment of 1.2 million carried out in the factory, incorporating a new production line for the manufacturing of refrigerated semitrailers.

Sources of Schmitz Cargobull Ibérica emphasized that “although the global semitrailer market decreased by around 13% last year, production of Schmitz Cargobull’s Figueruelas plant has increased, reaching 4.198 semitrailers (a 17.9% increase with regard to the 3.558 units produced the previous year).

According to Jordi Romero, CEO of the company that has been implanted in Aragon for 16 years, Schmitz Cargobull intends to go along with this growth in production with new hires, which, according to the progress made last year, could reach 70 if the market maintains its growth tendency.

Globally, Schmitz Cargobull had an annual production of approximately 58,000 vehicles last year. With around 5,800 employees worldwide, the leading European manufacturer of semi-trailers, bodies and trailers for temperature-controlled cargo, general cargo and bulk products reached a turnover of more than 2,000 million euros in the fiscal year 2016/2017 .
