Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company,
today announced it will open an infrastructure region in Spain. The new AWS Europe (Spain) Region will consist of three Availability Zones at launch, and will be AWS’s seventh region in Europe.
The three new data centers, occupying a total 100,000 sqm, will all be located in Aragón: One in Villanueva de Gállego, another one in the PLHUS logistics zone in Huesca and the third one in El Burgo de Ebro.
According to AWS’ predictions, the investment will generate 1,500 new employments over the next 10 years.
Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez welcomed the announcement, calling it “excellent news for Spain”.
